Overlapse is an independent visual arts and photobooks imprint based in London UK, founded in 2015 by publisher Tiffany Jones. We primarily publish books focused on storytelling, with subjects and stories addressing social, cultural, and environmental issues, and themes connected to human experience. Through close collaboration with photographers and artists we create unique, desirable, and beautifully produced books. Each book object has a distinctive balance between content and format that readers can connect with in meaningful ways.

Our titles are held in more than 100 libraries and institutional collections worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern, National Art Library at V&A, Getty Research Institute, George Eastman Museum, Museum of Fine Art Houston and the Gabriela Cendoya Bergareche Collection at San Telmo.

Recent book fairs we have participated in include Tokio Art Book Fair, Polycopies Paris, Unseen Book Market, Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair, ICP Photobook Fest, ArtsLibris Barcelona, BOP Photobook Fair, A Bigger Book Fair at Peckham 24, and Photo London Publishers’ Fair.

Submissions

Thank you for your interest in publishing with Overlapse! We are currently accepting unsolicited proposals in low-res PDF format ONLYemailed to submissions@overlapse.com. Other file types attached or inserted into emails will be deleted on receipt, and we do not download larger files via links, which tend to have an expiration time. A strong proposal will contain a tight selection of images, a brief description of the work and details regarding your vision for the project. PLEASE NOTE that while all submissions are carefully reviewed and considered, this is a time-intensive process for a small publisher so regretfully we are unable to respond to all who submit work. Thank you for your understanding!

Kind words about Overlapse books!

“One of our absolute favourite publishers is Overlapse – Beautifully made, unique books that are full of creativity and successful experimentation.”Photobook Junkies (on Instagram)

“It is a genuine pleasure to spend time with the publications, I really love the attention given to the reader’s experience and how tactile the books are.”Ellie Hopkins, photojournalism tutor

“I’ve acquired a few of Overlapse’s books, and my appreciation for Tiffany Jones’ [design] approach grows with each one… They’re smallish titles on uncoated stock, dense with visual material. Each one turns the spotlight on a cultural issue with historic tensions, then illustrates through a prism of photos, images, and text. These are multimedia books with a lot of moving parts and layered content.”Blake Andrews, photobook reviewer

We heart Polycopies!
“Outside on the deck people sit and drink beer. Down on the third deck is Anders Petersen who signs his latest book, Color Lehmitz, with a Spanish publisher. Here is also a relatively new publisher, which I consider to be one of the most interesting during this year’s great photo weekend in Paris [2017]. Overlapse Photobooks produces books that are superbly well-designed and contain absorbing stories.”Tommy Arvidson, Photobook collector, author of omfotoboken (Sweden)
